Library Director Tiffany Jean Fleet invites local residents to Knit a Bit on
Wednesday afternoons! New to experienced to non-knitters are invited to
get together and knit, talk about knitting or just watch people knit. All are
welcome...even children, teens and MEN! (Yes, plenty of men knit and
have knit for the war effort during WW II). Yarn, needles and inspiration
are available, so come learn how to knit or share your skill with others.
We hope to see you as we begin to Knit a Bit at 3.00 PM every
Wednesday.
Children in Grades 1 through 3 are welcome to join our new First
Saturday program where we will read stories, watch short movies, do
craft projects or other activities on a seasonal theme. We will also help
children select library books related to each month's theme. Parents or
guardians must call or stop at the library to register their children prior to
each session so that we may have enough materials prepared. We look
forward to seeing many children participate in our First Saturday program.
Throughout the school year, our library hosts the very popular Preschool
Story Hour for children ages 3-5. Two experienced PA certified
elementary teachers, Judy Bogozi and Donna Parish, will be in charge of
the story hour. In addition to the many learning activities planned for each
Story Hour, "Mrs. Judy" and "Mrs. Donna" provide guide sheets and
suggestions that parents can use to practice the skills and concepts with
their children at home. Call the library for specific dates and times.
Parents are requested to register their children for this program since
class size will be limited.
Many activities which are both educational and entertaining are
scheduled for the Summer Reading Program. In addition to reading
activities, the programs will feature crafts, snacks, videos, and rewards
for those children attending. Masontown Elementary School teachers
Dorothy Gruskowski and April Serock welcome Kindergarten to Grade 3
children to join the fun! Programs featuring professional presentations are
also offered; "The Cat in the Hat," "Queenie the Clown," "Mother Goose,"
and "Steve the Magician" were among those who have visited the library
and entertained the children attending our Summer Reading Program.
Contact the library for a schedule of summer events.
There is NO CHARGE for participation in any of the library's programs.
For more information or for registration, stop by the main desk at the
library or call 724.583.7030.
