Policy for Internet Use
COMPUTER USAGE RULES AND POLICIES have been established by the
Board of Directors
; these are posted in the library and appear on each
computer log in screen
. By logging in to the library's computer system, patrons
agree to abide by all established rules and policies.
Some important reminders
are listed below:

All patrons under age 18 must have an INTERNET PERMISSION FORM
signed by parent/guardian on file.

Patrons will sign in at the computer table and will receive a PIN ticket from a
staff member to access our system;
the timer program will allow 90
minutes of computer use.
To be fair to everyone--ONLY ONE TICKET PER
PATRON EACH DAY!

Staff members are NOT able to provide instruction in computer usage; staff
assistance is limited to log in/log out and printing help.

Various reference manuals are available in the computer area for patron use.
Informal basic computer instruction will be offered from time to time.

NOBODY is permitted to change any settings on any library computer. Please
remember these are PUBLIC computers.
Patrons who misuse library
computers or who attempt to bypass security programs and/or safety filters will
have computer privileges revoked and may be billed for any necessary repair
costs.


NO PERSONAL MATERIALS may be saved on the hard drives. All personal
materials must be saved on your own flash drive.

THE FOLLOWING SITES (OR TYPES OF SITES) ARE STRICTLY
PROHIBITED:
*eBay and any other auction site
*online gambling sites
*myspace.com and any sites that deal with online dating or sexual activity
*pornographic sites
*any type of chat rooms or online chat (including instant messaging)
*any site that the library staff deems inappropriate for use on public computers

*any site in violation of the PA Library Code or the Federal CIPA (Children's
Internet Protection Act)


The library computers are for public access, therefore staff will be
monitoring usage of the machines. This may include monitoring
Internet sites that are accessed by patrons.

Any violation of these rules and policies may result in suspension from   
use of
library computers, loss of all library privileges and/or prosecution.
